I’ve done computer science stuff since I was around 5 years old, doing IT and Comp Sci at school and college, and then getting a 1st in computing science at undergrad. I then went on to do most of a Web Science PhD on cryptocurrency tech, cybercrime, security and policing - technically in the social sciences department. After that, I had a relatively short-but-sweet career in and around cyber, fintech and AWS as a fast-talking nerdy devops/security/cloud lead/engineer/architect. My last 2 jobs up to early 2023 left me feeling frustrated, I think at modern silicon-valley-like tech company strategy and leadership in general. I decided I didn’t want that to be my full time occupation anymore.
Since then, I’ve been trying to do things a bit differently, and learning a lot about myself. I know now I like a challenge, I like learning, I like thinking and creating and solving problems and generally making the world a better place for as many people as possible. I know I just want to do “the right thing”, and I’m coming to realise that’s a big part of my identity.
The common theme through my life has been thinking. I love thinking. About everything and anything. I am a thinker. I like big thoughts, little ones, tough ones, fun ones all sorts - especially if they’re related to a nerdy interest.
